We all play a role in our own narrative, while at the same time playing a background character for someone else’s.
This notion of sonder—recognizing the profound complexities of other people’s lives—
fuels my exploration of the human experience.
Through blending elements of human-impacted urbanization and graffiti, with elements of untouched nature, I capture the beauty of impermanence within the context of an ever-evolving landscape that is the human narrative. My use of graffiti is my way of “vandalizing” my own experiences and societal standards. It is an outlet for accepting the things I can’t control, while taking control of the things that I can.
My fascination with graffiti as a form of rebellious self expression drives me to create visual narratives that explore its cyclical nature of creation and destruction. This cycle ties to my interest in organic forms of flora- as nature is a transcendent force that
is constantly recreating itself.
Through combining these seemingly opposing elements, I visually explore the tensions between chaos and order, treating the visual stimulation of graffiti similar to the experience of spotting a beautiful flower in nature.
